(ANS - Rome) - After the great success of the first edition of the "Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival" (DBGYFF), carried out worldwide in November 2021, the Social Communication Sector of the Salesian Congregation has decided to propose the second edition of the world-class Salesian youth film festival, aimed also in this case at bringing together and involving young people from all over the world, and especially this time those from Salesian environments, to be bearers of a message of peace and hope and to be protagonists of the change the world needs. (ANS - Rome) - Preparatory activities for the "Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival" (DBGYFF) - Season 2, the world-class Salesian youth film festival conceived and proposed by the Sector for Social Communication of the Salesian Congregation, are proceeding at a rapid pace. On this monthly commemoration of Mary Help of Christians, 24 March 2023, the coordination team of the festival informs widely about the state of progress of the work: all the processes are well underway, the digital portal is completed in all sections and languages, the digital registration module to participate is already available. Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea - October 2023 - On 14 October, over two hundred people attended the screening of the short films of the Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival 2023 at the Paradise Cinema, Vision City, in Port Moresby. The event's chief guest was Archbishop Fermín Emilio Sosa Rodríguez, Apostolic Nuncio to Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands. Timor-Leste - October 2023 - On 14 October, the Social Communication team in the Salesian Vice-Province of Timor-Leste (TLS), organised the participation of young people and students in the final phase of the Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival 2023, streamed live from Los Angeles. The theme of this second edition of the DBGYFF focuses on love that builds peace and solidarity. The students come from the São Francisco de Sales Philosophical Institute and the Escola Maria Auxiliadora Comoro. The film screening took place in the postnovitiate community and in the meeting room of the Maria Auxiliadora school. After the screening of some films, a film review was made by the students, capturing the central messages for their lives as well. Thailand - October 2023 - The final phase of the Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival 2023 (DBGYFF), in which the Salesian Province of Thailand, Cambodia and Laos (THA) participated by submitting 14 short films, was held from 13 to 14 October 2023. The participation in the event was facilitated by the Social Communications Commission of the THA Province and the collaboration of Salesian Institutes of the Salesian Family. Medellín, Colombia - October 2023 - The Festival of Talents, which takes place every year at the City of Don Bosco (Ciudad Don Bosco) Salesian house in Medellín, celebrated its 10th anniversary in the best possible way. The Festival began with a tribute to its founder, Fr. Fabio Díaz Vergara, who initiated the festival in 2013, when he was the Rector of the house. This year, there was also the participation of other groups and institutions that gave the festival a touch of energy and high levels of competition. The task of the jury, made up of artists and public figures, was therefore by no means easy, as the young artists gave the audience and the jury an excellent performance in three categories: singing, music and dance. Manicoré, Brazil - October 2023 - In the Week of Youth, the Salesian Youth Centre in Manicoré, belonging to the Salesian Province of Brazil-Manaus (BMA), screened the short films awarded at the Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival (DBGYFF) on 26 October. The traditional “good afternoon” was organised by the pastoral animator, Adriano Costa, who presented a summary of how the festival came about, synopses and film screenings. Campo Grande, Brazil – October 2023 – Students Gabriel Nazareth Mendes, Carolinne França Olmedo, Loren Queiroz Garcia da Cruz, Stefany Aparecida Silva Dutra and Juliana Lino, from the Design course at the Dom Bosco Catholic University (UCDB), ranked eighth globally in the competition known as the Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival (DBGYFF), edition 2023. The students took part in the festival by presenting a short film entitled "Nothing is lost", made as part of the "Illustration and digital animation" course, led by Prof. Gabriel Ferraciolli Soares. Making the short film was a great challenge for these young people and for this reason receiving the award made them feel satisfied and enthusiastic.   Read More
