B. Lenin, a maverick Indian film editor, writer and director who predominantly works in Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi films began his editing odyssey in Mahendran’s critically acclaimed Uthiripookkal. He was the chairman of the Film Federation of India in 2011. He has held important positions such as Jury member of the 57th National Film Awards (2010) and the Chairman of the Oscar Selection Committee (of FFI) in 2011.His short film Knock-out (1992) went on to win accolades from several quarters and received the Islamia Critics Award for Best Short Film at the Cairo International Film Festival. As of 2017, Lenin has won five National Film Awards, including the awardsfor Best Direction and Best Editing. He keeps himself busy working on several documentaries and imparts his knowledge to students of several film institutes all over the country and is a prominent jury for hundreds of film festivals in India.
