Sr. Dominic Dipio MSMMC is an erudite Ugandan filmmaker, author and a professor of Literature and Film at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. She graduated from Makerere University with B.A. Education and M.A. Literature. In 2004, she obtained her PhD in Film studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. In 2007, she headed the Dept. of Literature at Makerere University, making her the first African female to achieve this feat. In November 2019, she was appointed as a Consultor of the Pontifical Council for Culture by Pope Francis, prior to which she also served as one of several consultants to the Pontifical Council for Social Communication in the Vatican at the appointment of Pope Benedict XVI in 2011. She is very much involved in the Uganda film industry having directed and produced a number of films and documentaries. She has served as a judge and member of jury at a number of film festivals such as the Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF), the Amakula Film festival, Uganda Film Festival and Berlinale Film festival in Germany.
